Tekla Structures to Autodesk solutions

Task

Export from Tekla Structures

Drawing review: Workflows to Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM360 for drawing / documentation review

PDF, DWG, DGN, Excel etc. exports. Full list on data exchange formats can be found here

3D model coordination (open BIM standards)
Workflows to Revit / Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360 / Navisworks

.ifc export to Autodesk Desktop Connector or direct to ACC, BIM360 and then cloud service link to Revit or Navisworks. Point to point file workflows are also possible. More information from Autodesk here

Making good Revit drawings from linked Tekla Structures models.

Option 1. Trimble extensions

Extremely rare workflow which has been requested for some design phases. Trimble make use of Open Design Alliance software kits to create .rvt files from Tekla Structures. These are geometry files only and may or may not provide the necessary model organization needs of a Revit user for drawing production. You need to install an extension for Tekla Structures from the Warehouse. Note that one version of Revit is supported at any one time by the exporter.

Creating Revit drawings from Tekla Structures models.

Option 2. Autodesk extensions (alpha release)

Extremely rare workflow for some design phases. Autodesk have released a Tekla Structures exporter via Autodesk Data Exchanger which creates models that can then be imported to Revit using the Revit Data Exchanger

Revit to Tekla Structures

Task

Export from Revit

3D coordination using open standard BIM file formats.
Workflows from Revit to Tekla Structures for general BIM coordination

.ifc export from Revit to Tekla Structures, either direct or via Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM360 and Autodesk Desktop Connector

Native part creation in Tekla Structures

Workflows from any software than can export structural IFC file to Tekla Structures for continued modeling.

Tekla Structures can convert .ifc files into native members, and can track changes. Use the IFC conversion functionality.

Basepoint handling when exporting to Revit

Revit uses a Survey Point when importing IFC files. When exporting, ensure the offset between the construction grid and the Tekla Structures basepoint is the same as in Revit. This functionality has worked in Revit since 2021.
