Tekla PowerFab 64 bit Version
Tekla PowerFab 64-bit versions are now available to download at Tekla Downloads. These versions offer better memory management for larger imports and jobs.
Switching between the 32-bit and 64-bit versions is simply a matter of running the desired installer over the existing installation. However, to switch the Tekla PowerFab installation on a computer to use the 64-bit version, it is necessary to run the 64-bit installer manually. The existing 32-bit installation does not prompt the user to update to a 64-bit installer located in the update directory. Once the 64-bit version is installed, it detects future 64-bit installers in the update directory.
It is perfectly acceptable to have some computers on the network running the 32-bit version of Tekla PowerFab and others running the 64-bit version. There is no requirement that all computers match, as long as they are all running the same service pack.
It is not necessary to update to the 64-bit version as long as you are not experiencing memory issues on large jobs. Most users will not notice a performance difference between the 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
