SteelXML: Request for Pricing/RFQ
The intent of exporting to SteelXML is for the purpose of getting requests for pricing from vendors specific to the material information in the requisition within EPM. This is the area of the program intended for this purpose. For this reason the only area of the program where the ability to export the correct file for use with SteelXML is from within the requisition. Though there are other xml file exports within the program this is the only export designed to work specifically with SteelXML.
It is important to note that all items in the requisition will be sent out in the export. So, if it is necessary to have items in different files for submission to vendors for pricing then they need to be put in different requisitions. If you need help with this contact support.
When exporting the steelXML file the user will be prompted for information on the supplier, supplier code, contact, email, whether the export is to be attached to an email and whether you “Request Nested Result”.
There are three basic situations being considered for the export.
- The items are already combined within the requisition and being order as the stock lengths displayed in the requisition. In this case the “Request Nested Result” will not be checked.
- The items are not combined and the request is for the vendor to combine them on their available inventory and provide the nesting results in there returned pricing. In this case the “Request Nested Result” will be checked.
- The items are being ordered cut to length by the vendor. In this case the “Request Nested Result” will not be checked.
The resulting file can be emailed to the vendor directly from the export or separately. After the file has been accepted by the vendor and processed within SteelXML the results can be imported from the requisition drop down menu and selecting the file provided by the vendor.
