Simple system implementation setup
Tekla Structures is an advanced modelling information system and as such requires a certain level of setting up in order to meet each of our clients drawing office standards.
This guide is intended to provide you with a good understanding of some fundamental concepts for the administration of Tekla Structures, such as, saved settings, file storage and locations. As well as concepts on managing model objects and filters in order to create the users desired drawing output at a style level.
The guide is split into four sections, each following on from the last and concluding in creating a drawing setting containing your desired style settings for the objects in your model.
Firm folder set up
What is the Firm folder? We refer to the location with which we store any specific companies customised settings and other associated files as the Firm Folder. These files can consist of anything from the company's printer settings and logos to their specific component standard settings and modified templates.

Naming and Numbering conventions
Deciding on the numbering and naming parameters to be used in the software is very important to ensure efficient use of Tekla Structures.
Doing this early on enables users to apply specific attributes to objects which will be modelled and save them as company standards. These standards can then be placed into the pre-created firm folder for use in all models. These form the basis of the drawing office standard output control which will be used throughout the system.

Filters
Filters are an important concept and tool to get your heads around early on in the use of Tekla Structures. Filters allow you to create logic rules which need to be met in order to achieve the desired results.
Templates and Drawings
In the following section, we will be focusing on creating a simple drawing layout.
For this we will create a simple Title Block template and use the Layout Editor to position the template in the required location. This layout will then be used to generate a drawing where we will use the previously created filters and naming conventions to create a style for our drawings which can reflect our drawing office standards.
