Setup Tekla PowerFab to work with Trimble Connect
From the Maintenance dropdown, select Integration Settings > Trimble Connect.
In the Trimble Connect Settings window, check the box next to "Use Trimble Connect Desktop to View Models:" Notice that for users who are not an Administrator only have access to this checkbox in the Settings window. Click Save to commit the change. Note that you will need to close and re-open Tekla PowerFab for the changes to take effect.
A user logged in as an Administrator has access to everything in the Trimble Connect Settings window, as seen in the next image.
To invite users that aren't in your Tekla PowerFab database, add their emails under "Default Users for Trimble Connect Project . . . ". Simply add one email address per line, and they will be included in the "Add Users to Project" window.
Click the "Add New Trimble Connect Projects" button to open the "Select Project" window.
The left column lists all jobs that are available to be added to Trimble Connect as projects. Select the jobs you want to add and click the ">" button to move it to the "Included" side. Alternatively, click the ">>" button to move all listed jobs to "Included". Click OK and you'll be taken to the "Add Users to Project" window:
The left column, "Not Included", lists users in your Tekla PowerFab database. The right column, "Included", lists users added in the previous "Default Users . . ." window. Use the arrow buttons to move emails to the appropriate column. Click OK. The jobs are added to Trimble Connect and email invitations are sent to the selected users:
In the image above, IFC files are being uploaded to Connect. These are from projects that already existed in the Document Index for FabSuite View. For new projects it's recommended that you add IFC models through Connect (demonstrated later in this document) and not to the Document Index. This will allow Connect to manage versions of the model.
Back in the "Trimble Connect Settings" window, click the "Add Users to Existing Trimble Connect Projects" button. This brings up the "Add Users to Projects" window. Users in the Included column will receive email invitations to the projects included in the next window, "Select Projects".
The final button in the Trimble Connect Settings window, "Upload IFC Files to Existing Trimble Connect Projects" is also only recommended for sending existing FabSuite View projects to Connect. Otherwise, it is preferred practice to add the IFC models directly to the project in Connect.
