Set the location of the folder ts

Tekla Structures - Not version-specific ts map bestanden server samenwerken xs_firm
Environment
Construsoft European

By default, every PC on which Tekla Structures is installed has a local ts folder (..:\TeklaStructures\<version>\Environments\ConstrusoftEuropean\ts) where you can store custom settings so that they are available for all Tekla Structures models.

When multiple licenses are used within one company, it is often desirable for everyone to reference the same ts folder. You can place the ts folder on a server so that everyone uses this folder and therefore works with the same settings (such as drawing settings, profile database, templates, etc.). This promotes uniformity within the company and has the advantage that only one folder needs to be maintained.

When upgrading to a new Tekla Structures version, the files in the ts folder can be copied to the ts folder of the new Tekla Structures version.

When working with different Tekla Structures versions, always create a separate ts folder on the server for each Tekla Structures version:

(Settings may differ per version because, for example, new functionalities or user-defined attributes have been added).

Click here for more detailed information about updating the ts folder, setting up a reference to the ts folder on a server, and additional points of attention.

Setting up a reference to the ts folder

1. On the relevant workstations, go in Windows Explorer to the following location:

Tekla Structures 2018i and earlier:

.:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\TeklaStructures\<version>\UserSettings\

Tekla Structures 2019 and later:

.:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Trimble\Tekla Structures\<version>\UserSettings

2. Open the file user.ini in a text editor and modify the line rem set XS_FIRM

(You can also use the Directory Browser macro to quickly open the user.ini file).

3. Make sure the line starts with set ; the word rem must be removed.

4. On the server, save the desired settings in the corresponding ts folder:

Our advice is to only modify the reference to the ts folder in the user.ini file. Other settings can be added to the options.ini file in the ts folder. This method is described in the article Making variables available for all models.
