Home ribbon > Settings controls new models.

Home ribbon > Model Settings controls the current model.

If you change the Head Code of an existing model, this will have an effect on the order files and sections.

The Head Code sets the Order Files and Section databases to be used.

The Order files are named the same i.e. “UKB Beam” for each code of practice, but each contains different data as shown below.

Notice the different nomenclature between the two section datbases. i.e. W_el,y = Z_xx.

Thus, the section properties and order files that reference these section properties differ based on the Head Code used in the model.

Design - Unknown

If you model and then change the code via Model settings, then the incorrect Order files and section properties are assigned to individual elements and the message "Section is not compatible with currently selected Head Code\\unit System" results when you attempt to review the design results.

The Review view, will display the elements as Unknown and when you drill in to review the individual design calculations the message is displayed.

Resolution

To resolve you need to:-

Select all the elements in the model and then using the Properties filter work on each steel filter group one at a time.

Check Autodesign "On" and select the Design section order "Order file" again by clicking New/Edit and selecting from the list again.

Repeat for all other steel properties via the Properties filter.
