Generally most program crashes and issues can be caused by the C++ Redistributables becoming corrupted. C++ is used by many programs, including Tekla products. Occasionally, other software installations corrupt the existing C++ Redistributables or install an older version. Some of the indicators of a C++ corruption can be .NET, kernelbase32.dll, and similar references in error logs and/or Windows' Event Viewer.

Please attempt Repairing the C++ Redistributables and see if that corrects the issue. If that does not, please completely uninstall and reinstall the C++ Redistributables. The directions are listed below. If you need assistance or if performing a clean install of all the C++ Redistributables does not solve the problem, please contact your local support team for assistance.

Note:

Administrative access or elevated user account privileges may be needed to perform the tasks.

Repair C++ Redistributables

  1. Go to Apps & features in Windows (Start Menu → Settings ⚙ → Apps).
  2. Under Apps & features find the apps “Microsoft C++ <version> Redistributable <x86 and x64>”.
  3. Select the latest Year you see (at this time is 2019 or 2015-2019) and click Modify.
  4. A dialog will appear, giving you the option to “Repair.”
  5. Click Repair and then allow the process to complete.
  6. Repeat steps 3 → 6 for each installation you see all the way back to version 2012 (versions prior to 2012 do not have a “Repair” option).

Uninstall & Reinstall C++ Redistributables

  1. Return to Apps & features in Windows (Start Menu → Settings ⚙ → Apps). Take a screenshot or note of each currently installed version. Only the versions that are currently installed need to be reinstalled in step 4.
  2. Uninstall all versions of the installed C++ Packages (Microsoft C++ <version> Redistributable <x86 and x64>).
  3. Restart your computer
  4. Download all the necessary C++ packages. These can be downloaded directly from Microsoft or the Google Drive links below. Note the only necessary packages are those that were previously installed. Installing others should not be an issue.
  1. After downloading each package, please proceed by installing each one individually. There are no special steps during installation; click next and install as the prompts appear.
  2. After installing each package, please restart your computer.
