Reference model not shown in drawing reference object list

Question: I am sure that my reference model is visible in my Model view but when I try to make it visible in a drawing, it does not show up on the Reference model list. Why?

Answer: This is likely due to a defect in version 2016i. The issue has been corrected in 2018i but unfortunately, the fix created for this cannot be released for in-between versions without significant regression risk. If upgrading to 2018i and newer is not an option, use the following workarounds:

  • Set the reference model to visible in the model’s side pane
  • This should allow it to show up in the reference object list in drawings

or

  • Trigger a manual drawing update (move view area, insert another part, etc.)

Tip:
In all versions, ensure that the view depth encompasses the reference model.
