This article describes how the reinforcing bar leg lengths are calculated. The calculation method depends on the angle between the legs:

  • When the angle is <= 90°, the length is measured to the extension of a leg along the outer edge

  • When the angle is > 90 ° and <= 180 °, the tangential length is used

We have used the parameters visible in Rebar Shape Manager:

  • S1 is the straight portion of a bar for the first segment.
  • S2 is the straight portion of a bar for the second segment.
  • A1 is the angle measured between the extension of the first leg and the second leg. So angle is 0° if second segment continues into same direction as the first segment (rebar is straight).
  • L1 is the leg length for the first rebar segment.
  • L2 is the leg length for the second rebar segment.
  • RS is the bending radius.
  • DIA is the actual diameter of the rebar.
