Using RAL colors to display parts in model views and drawings
In Tekla Structures, you can use RAL colors to display parts in model views and in drawings:
Using RAL colors in model views
1. Double-click a model view, the View properties dialog box appears:
2. Click the Representation button; the Object Representation dialog box appears:
Here you can set how parts in an object group (filter) are displayed in the model view. You can define a color for these parts as well as their level of transparency.
Click here for more information on configuring the display of parts in model views.
For example, all parts with a material grade starting with GLA (glass) are displayed in the model view in white and are 70% transparent:
You can add or remove rules as needed.
We’ll create a new setting where the parts in the various phases (hall = phase 1, awning = phase 2, and cladding = phase 3) are assigned the RAL colors as shown in the image above.
3. Click the Object group button, define the object groups for phases 1, 2, and 3, and save the settings using the Save As button:
4. Click Close.
5. In the Object Representation dialog box, configure the object group and then click Choose Color... in the Color column:
6. In the Color dialog box that appears, click the Define Custom Colors button:
7. In addition to the basic colors, you can define the desired RAL colors here by entering an RGB value (Red, Green, Blue). To find out which values to enter for a RAL color, you can use the color chart.
8. Click on the desired color; the color will now appear in the upper-right corner, and you’ll see the corresponding RAL color:
9. Enter the values in the Color dialog box and click OK:
10. Repeat steps 5 through 9 for the remaining phases:
11. Save the setting using the Save As button and apply the setting in the model view.
Using RAL colors in drawings
You can also use RAL colors when printing drawings to selected printers or saving them as plot files or PDF files:
To do this, you can first “classify” the drawing so that you can easily control how the drawing objects are displayed. You can define settings for the various groups of objects in the model (in this case, the phases) so that the objects are assigned a separate color or filled in for each phase.
Click here for more information about “classifying” drawings.
