Question:
When I export CNC files for pipes (PD, CHS) the type of profile is B (plate), but I would like to have the profile type as RO.

Answer:
By default, Tekla Structures generates unwrapped round tubes as plate profile type B in the NC file header data. This is because the software treats them as flattened plates that are later rolled into a tubular shape during production.

To export round tubes with the RO profile type instead, you must change the following advanced option:

  1. Go to the File menu and click Settings > Advanced Options.
  2. Search for the advanced option XS_TUBE_UNWRAP_USE_PLATE_PROFILE_TYPE_IN_NC.
  3. Set its value to FALSE. (The default value is TRUE).
  4. Click OK to save the changes.

Note:

  • Prerequisite: This advanced option only applies if you have already set XS_TUBE_UNWRAP_WITH_CUT_HOLES to TRUE.
  • Limitations: This functionality applies exclusively to straight tubes and will not work for polybeam tubes.
  • Scope: This advanced option is model specific and the setting is saved in the options database.  After changing the value, you must reopen the model for the new value to take effect.
