We have disabled the use of older security protocols on 7th of October in Trimble Connect. This might cause sign-in issues in Trimble Connector for Tekla Structures users having the Windows 7, Windows 8 or very early Windows 10 (1607 or earlier) operating system. Windows 7 does not support the newer security protocol TLS 1.2 by default. There might be this error message shown: "An error has occurred while executing the operation. Check you Internet connection and try again." or there is an exception shown in the Trimble Connector error window.

To solve this issue,

We recommend updating the operating system to Windows 10.

If updating the operating system is not possible, enable the following registry setting in Windows 7:

Do this only if you are familiar with the registry editing!

  1. Make sure that you have the latest Windows update installed.
  2. Check and possibly add or change the registry setting: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.2\Client {DisabledByDefault=0}
  3. Check also that Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7 or newer is installed.
  4. Make also sure that you are using the latest Tekla Structures Service Pack, at minimum these or any newer version:

2019 Service Pack 3

2018i Service Pack 8

2018 Service Pack 9

2017i Service Pack 10

2017 Service Pack 13
