Question:

Why my plates are getting different number? The plates have the same geometry, but the other had two dowels welded into the plate. If I try the same situation in a new model, plates are identical and get same part number.

Answer: 

Weld itself has no direct effect on part numbering. But if you have created NC files of the plates and used the pop-mark or contour marks, they do affect part numbering. After changing the settings in the NC File Settings dialog box, run Diagnose & Repair Numbering: Series of Selected Objects for the plates and run numbering.
