Performance issues in Tekla Structural Designer caused by NVidia RTX graphics driver version 31.0.15.4609

Some performance issues have been observed in Tekla Structural Designer 2024, and prior versions when the “Favour Speed” performance mode was selected. These have been identified as being caused by NVidia RTX graphics driver version 31.0.15.4609. This graphics driver version has been reported to cause issues in a number of applications.

 

This issue may cause a range of performance problems. Typically, the application may appear to be frozen for a short time while performing simple actions, such as navigating views. When running analysis, the application may freeze for a longer period of time.

 

This version of the graphics driver appears to be causing increased CPU and power usage.

 

Identifying graphics driver version

To identify the version of the graphics driver:

  1. Open Device Manager
  2. Navigate to Display adapters > NVIDIA display adapter and open Properties
  3. Navigate to the Driver tab, where the Driver Version is displayed

 

Resolution

If affected by this issue, the user can try the following actions from the Driver page of the Display Adapter Properties:

  • Update Driver
  • Roll Back Driver
