Open native BIMSight files in Trimble Connect
Question: I have several *.tbp
(Native BIMSight extension) files and I need to open them on Trimble Connect. How do I do it? I no longer have the software installed.
Answer: You can drag and drop the *.tbp file to a Trimble Connect for Windows projects page. (It doesn’t work if you try to import the *.tbp file inside an existing TC project). The conversion process might be slow, so you need to be patient.
All the files and their placements are imported to the Trimble Connect project. There are, however, the following limitations:
- ToDos
- Views
- ClashChecks
Those are not exported to Trimble Connect.
It is also possible to extract an IFC file from a Tekla .tbp container format package file. Part of what a .tbp typically contains is the model data in IFC format, and users can access this data by opening the .tbp in an archive viewer such as 7-zip as shown in the following image:
