How to modify the existing revision template in the US Imperial environment
In this article, we will talk about how we can modify the existing revision template in a drawing to get more information included. In the US Imperial environment, the default is to show only a small amount of information to improve performativity.
In this example, we will be working with Style 1 in the US environment. On the left in the Revision Handling dialog you can see all the information that is possible to show.

How to start
Start by reviewing the Revision handling dialog and decide what you want to add. In this example of the revision template only the revision number, revision description, and the date are selected. Now, we are going to add the checked by name, approved by name, and a simple mark that identifies whether a revision has been checked.Create a drawing and add a revision by right-clicking on the drawing. This opens the Revision dialog box. Click create.
Next, open the drawing and double click on the Revision template in the drawing. You will be prompted with a dialog box asking if you want to edit the template, click Yes.

When the template editor opens you will see five different style templates. The 5 different styles are created to work with the US Imperial environment. We will use the first style in this example.

To modify the data we want to try to maintain the same width. Therefore, we increase the height. Double click on the top row which is called the stacked revision row. Properties dialog box opens and you can double the height.

Next, select the existing information and move it to the top. We place the number field between the two and increase the line down.

The result should look like this:

Now we extend the two lines surrounding the Revision Number value field and center the revision number value field.
Image
We can also increase the size of just the revision number so it will take up more space in the box.
Image
Now we copy the line from the top down and modify it to fit in the middle of what is now going to be two separate boxes.
Image
Now we are going to add quite a bit of text to the lower section and a few lines, see below
Image
Next, add the value fields. Value fields are the actual data that is pulled from the model. The first step is to ensure we use the same text height and text font that is already being used. To do this, double click on any existing value field (except for the revision number since we modified it earlier) and select the check box Set as default for new value fields.

Add the value fields one at a time:

Next, we need to select these two check boxes to set them to YES.

For these checked boxes we are going to use a value field to write a formula and to show a X when the revision has been checked and approved.
The formula will be based on whether or not the DATE fields are used. So if the drawing has not been checked or approved the date field is not entered.

Finally, save the changes to the template. The drawing should look similar to the image below once you reopen it.

Remember to save your modified templates to your firm folder so you do not lose them when updating to a new service release.
