Lifting hook embeds belong to wrong double wall shell in Unitechnik export
Question:
I have a problem with exporting a double wall with lifting hooks to Unitechnik. In the Unitechnik files lifting hooks are randomly added to shell 1 or shell 2, when they should always be added to shell 1.
I have used Embedded anchors (8) to create hooks between shells and the same export settings each time. Can we add such hooks to preferred shell?
Answer:
The logic behind this is that what is geometrically inside shell 1 cannot be part of shell 2. That is what the export algorithm checks, in matters of bounding box and penetration. However, it is recommended to have the cast unit hierarchy done correctly, meaning that lifting hook embeds should be added as sub-assemblies to shell 1. In this case it did not help, but the following workaround solution was needed:
- apply a part cut, cut the lifting hook against shell 2
- after that, the lifting hook will be found as an embed belonging to shell 1
Note that this solution will affect drawings, so it is just a workaround to get the Unitechnik export done correctly.
