Subscription license incorrectly shown as in use

When a user tries to use their subscription license, the subscription is shown as unavailable in some cases. This issue can occur when a loss of internet connectivity prevents the subscription license from being returned successfully, such as when the internet connection is slow or unstable or the user has not been actively using the software for a period of time.

The following message is shown in the configuration drop-down list: "X License - All in use (on device X)".

Tekla Structures 2020 SP14 contains a fix for this issue: TTSD-47529

Verified Workarounds

In affected versions, you can use one of these workarounds to release the subscription license.

(Recommended) Sign out twice to release the subscription license

In Tekla Structures version 2019, 2019i, or 2020 SP13 or older, signing out twice releases the subscription license.

1. On the same computer where you are experiencing the issue, start the same version of Tekla Structures again using the same subscription license.
2. Open a model, then sign out and exit.

The subscription license is released.

(Recommended) Open your Tekla Online profile before exiting Tekla Structures

Opening your Tekla Online profile and deselecting the option to stay signed in before exiting Tekla Structures releases the license. If you experience this issue often, this workaround is recommended.

1. In Tekla Structures, click your user name, then select Open my profile.
   Your Tekla Online profile opens in a web browser.
2. In Tekla Structures, click your user name, then deselect Stay signed in.
3. Exit Tekla Structures.

The subscription license is released.

Your local support team can release subscription licenses. Contact your local support team for assistance.

Sign out from Tekla Structures version 2021 to release the subscription license

Signing out from Tekla Structures version 2021 on the same computer where you are experiencing the issue in Tekla Structures version 2019, 2019i, or 2020 releases the subscription license.

1. On the same computer where are you are experiencing the issue, start Tekla Structures version 2021 using the same subscription license.
2. Sign out and exit.

The subscription license is released.

Subscription license not released after closing Tekla Structures

There have been several cases where Tekla Structures subscription licenses such as Diamond, Graphite, Carbon, and Model Sharing are not released after closing Tekla Structures.

If you use more than one version of Tekla Structures, you must release your subscription license seat in all versions where it is reserved. When you close old versions of Tekla Structures we recommended you do these steps to ensure that the license is released:

Tekla Structures 2020

1. With a model open, click Save.
2. Click your username.

3. Clear the Stay signed in check box.

4. Close Tekla Structures.

Tekla Structures 2019i and 2019

1. With a model open, click your username.

2. Select Open Profile.

3. Click Save on the left side.

   If you do not want to save the model, we recommend that you close Tekla Structures, open the model again, then sign out.

4. Click your user name.

5. Clear the Stay signed in check box.

6. Close Tekla Structures.
