Is there a way to edit or enhance a Tedds Library calculation?

Put simply, it is not possible to directly edit the original Tedds (automated) calculations.

These are composed of numerous calculation components which are linked together by the calculation interface and an underlying progam so that the correct components are run and output for the given input, which can have a huge variation.  It is not possible to edit any of; the calculation components; the interface; the underlying program.

You can however write your own additional/ alternative checks and store them in your own Calculation Library for future re-use.  You can use the output from a Tedds calculation as the basis for your version. You can store an item in your Calculation Library that runs the Tedds original calculation and then runs your additional/ alternative checks at the end. This works well if you are dealing with an individual check or checks.

However this approach may not be practicable if the calculation has numerous alternate routes dependant on the input data - in this case you would either need to store all the alternate calculations and add them to the document as required, or limit yourself to specific routes through the calculation for which you have created the alternate calculations.

In all cases you will need a good understanding of the principles of Calculation Writing in Tedds before creating and implementing your own additional checks.  The most effective way to gain this is by completing the First steps with Tekla Tedds eLearning course modules.  You can also contact your local Tekla area office or Reseller to enquire if they offer training for Tedds.

It is also possible to write complete calculations similar to those in the Tedds Calculation Library, with interfaces and underlying programs (provided your first learn the principles of calculation writing as mentioned above).  A set of Tedds Developer Tools and associated Tutorials (from the Help menu) are available for this in Tedds for Word.
