Integration with Revit© 2023 and later years - Incomplete Installation of Revit family content
Background
To integrate with Revit you can download and install the appropriate version of the Integrator for Autodesk Revit. There is a specific version of the Integrator for each version of Revit:
- For Revit 2023 use the Tekla Structural Designer Integrator for Autodesk Revit 2023 released in Dec 2022.
- For Revit 2024 use the Tekla Structural Designer Integrator for Autodesk Revit 2024 released in Sept 2023.
- For Revit 2025 use the Tekla Structural Designer Integrator for Autodesk Revit 2025 released in Sept 2024.
- For Revit 2026 use the Tekla Structural Designer Integrator for Autodesk Revit 2026 released in Aug 2025.
All the above are available from Trimble Downloads (sign in to access downloads).
Since version 2021, it appears that Autodesk have streamlined their installation and now the initial family content installed by the default installation is incomplete. Users will find that several important ‘.rfa’ format files or the associated ‘.txt’ information files may be missing or contain incomplete data. This will cause issues with integration and should be corrected.
This issue is known to affect the UK, English (US Metric) and English-Imperial (US Imperial) content and may potentially affect that for other countries/ regions also.
Solution
The solution is to access the Autodesk Revit Content web pages for your version of Revit and install the appropriate content, for example:
- For Revit 2022 see Autodesk Revit 2024 Content
Important Additional Note
During file extraction you may encounter a "Cannot create…" error message. This is due to Windows needing explicit Administrator permissions to overwrite an existing file contained within the C:\ProgramData location. If you encounter this message, it means that some of the files being installed are already present.
To extract the entire package and ensure all the content is installed, run the executable using the "Run as Administrator" option.”
The default install content may not be complete so we recommend the "Run as Administrator" option is used at all times to ensure all the required content is installed
