I have changed my beams to a user defined name. How do I revert back to the default naming convention?

Is it possible to restore the names of my steel beams to the default way of grid line references. I changed them a few weeks ago to give them unique names i.e. Example 1, Example 2, but I now want to revert them back to the default grid line reference method?

There are two methods to achieve this.

Changing a single beam at a time
Changing multiple beams at the same time

Single Beam at a time

Select a Single Beam in the Scene view
In the Properties Window, expand Name using the + symbol and delete the contents of the User Name field

Changing Multiple Beams at the same time

Select all the beams you wish to edit. See Help for the different Selection methods available.
In the Properties Window, expand Name using the + symbol and Rename the contents of the User Name field so they are all the same
In the Properties Window, expand Name using the + symbol and Delete the contents of the User Name field so you remove the name from all of the beams
