Question: When I import an IFC file, how can I check the profile will convert correctly.
Answer:
In order to solve this problem, follow these steps.
1. After you insert the IFC reference model, make sure you have selected the section option for Reference objects and that you have the Select objects in components selection switch on.
2. Select the part that you need to convert. It should now be highlighted.

3. Go up to the File Menu>Settings>IFC object conversion settings

4. Click Check at the bottom of the dialog box. Note that the part has to be selected.

5. Any problem mapping the material or profile will appear in the list. Click on the Missing Materials tab.
6. Assign the correct Tekla Structures Material as shown.

7. Click the Update Mapping Catalogs, then click Close.
8. Click OK on the IFC Conversion setting dialog.
9. Start the IFC object conversion Change Management from the reference model list.

10. Select the part in the list of parts.
11. Change the conversion status to “Conversion.”
12. Click Apply at the bottom.

13. A new member will be created on top of the reference part.
