How to borrow activated licenses from the server

Why Licenses Borrowing?

You can go with licenses borrowing when the Tekla Structures user needs to work offline. This means that the user in this case doesn’t need to be connected to the server via LAN or VPN to work on Tekla Structures. 


Before you begin, consider the following:

  • Both the license server and the client workstation need to be in the same company domain.
  • You need to be connected to the license server either by LAN or VPN to borrow an activated license.
  • The borrowed license is transferred from the license server to the user's computer, so it is not available for other users during the borrowing period.
  • Always use the Tekla Structures License Borrow Tool version that is matching with the version of Tekla Structures License Server.
  • The maximum borrowing period is one month.
  • Disconnect the user computer/workstation from LAN/VPN after successful borrowing. This is important to ensure that Tekla Structures works offline with the borrowed license.
  • Tekla options file (tekla.opt) affects borrowing.
