How do i get around case sensitive NC Files?

In Windows files are case sensitive. This means that there is difference between 'a' and 'A', for example. If you a part in Tekla Structures that is named as  a1 and another that is name A1, only one part will be created when you create a NC file for those parts.
As a workaround, you need to change settings both in your model and in the NC files. In this article, we will explain how to do this.

The Workflow

First, we need to check which parts in the model are going to have conflicting part prefixes. We search for parts which have a prefix with the same letter but in a different case (e.g. T1, t2).

In this model, the prefixes t, T, a, A, m, M are conflicting. We need to create two sets of selection filters to manage this problem: one filter for the lowercase letters and another filter for the uppercase letters. Below, you can see examples of how to set a selection filter for lowercase letters.

Next, we need to make some NC settings that will place the files in different folders.

To do this,  Go to File > Export > NC Files. In the NC Files settings dialog box, highlight the DSTV for Plates and click Edit.

Adjust the File Location to NC_Files\Plates\UpperCase and change the name of the settings to DSTV for plates Uppercase. Click OK to create the new setting.

Then, follow the same procedure for lowercase letters.

Finally, we can create the NC files. Select one of the created selection filters and then check on the corresponding DSTV settings. Image below shows you how to do this with the lowercase letters.

Next, do the same with uppercase letters. The end result in your model folder should look similar to the image below.
