Question
How do I add higher level assembly numbers to exported IFC Parts?Answer
This can be done by defining an Additional Property Set (see "Property set configuration files used in IFC export" and TUA article "How do I add additional information to an IFC Export?" for instructions on how to define Property Sets).Adding the ASSEMBLY_POS attribute to the Property Sets, means the assembly to which a part belongs is included with the part. If that assembly is itself part of another assembly, that higher level assembly number can be included by adding the following property:
ASSEMBLY.ASSEMBLY.ASSEMBLY_POS
Type the attribute name as above for "Attribute" field and add a display name for "Name", then click the Add button and the attribute will be added to the list of selected properties.
By adding the prefix "ASSEMBLY." to the attribute name you can get the next level assembly number.
Click Save and Close to save the changes.

The exported parts will contain the assembly numbers.
