ABB's simulation and offline programming software, RobotStudio, allows robot programming to be done on a PC in the office without shutting down production.

An important prerequisite for robotic offline programming is the availability of 3D models of the work piece and production equipment. Then you can load your 3D models into the offline programming environment and start preparing for the production phase. You can find more info here. 

RobotStudio can import ACIS files (file extension .sat). CAD programs such as SolidWorks and Mechanical Desktop both use ACIS as their native file format and work great with RobotStudio.

You can export Tekla model into IGES/STEP format using dedicated STEP/IGES export option.
