Error with Step Iges Converter: Saving does not work if there are special characters in WebViewer model path

Question:

The WebViewer xml model loads into the converter but the conversion / saving does not work. "The WebViewer model will be converted... Please wait..." message is shown on the converter status bar but nothing happens.

Resolution: 

This may be caused by special characters (such as Scandinavian letters ä and ö) in the WebViewer model path. To work around this, move the model into a location not containing any special characters (e.g. Windows Desktop) and make sure the xml-file name itself does not contain such characters. Then reopen the model into Step Iges Converter and now the conversion should work.
 

Please note that Tekla WebViewer models are no longer supported from Tekla Structrures 2019 onwards. We recommend that you use Multi Converter (can be downloaded from Tekla Warehouse) or another solution to create step and iges files with newer Tekla Structures versions.
