Error "Object already exists" when trying to install Tekla Structures

Question:
I cannot install Tekla Structures and I get the following error message:

"Tekla Structures 20.0 x64 Installer Information
Object already exists."

Answer:
This might happen if you have Windows update KB2918614 installed on your computer. The current workaround is to remove this update and reboot the computer.

Other troubleshooting steps:

  • Ensure you have full Administrator rights on the computer.
  • Verify that your hard disk drive is not full.
  • Check that the digital signature of the downloaded installation .exe file is valid to ensure the download was not corrupted.
  • Ensure no other automated updates or installations are running simultaneously.

If the error persists, you can find more detailed information in the installation log file:

  1. Navigate to your Windows %TEMP% folder.
  2. Look for a file with a name starting with MSI and ending with .log created at the time of the failed installation.
