Difference between Lock and Freeze in drawings
What is the difference between locking a drawing and freezing a drawing?
When you lock a drawing it doesn't actually prevent other than manual changes in the drawing. If there are changes in the model, they affect the drawings all the same even if you have locked it. Lock is used to notify other people and yourself that the drawing should not be opened, edited or deleted and it also stops people from doing this by accident. Locked drawings can be opened by anyone, but they have to manually unlocked first.
Freeze is used to prevent unwanted changes in associative objects on top of the drawing views. The changes in model affect drawings, and building objects such as parts and bolts are always updated in drawings even when using freeze. Freeze prevents changes in annotation objects (e.g. dimensions and marks) and view properties when building objects in model are changed. You should be careful when using freeze and after changes in the model go through drawings to see if marks and dimensions are in right place.
