Cursor position after calculating

Each of the calculation commands works slightly differently but here is the general set of rules that are followed when calculating.

On Calculate Command

  1. Save the current insertion point
  2. Select what needs to be calculated (document, section, etc.)
  3. Do calculate

If the saved insertion point still exists restore it: (this will only occur if the insertion point was within a part of the document that the user created, if the insertion point was in the middle of a library calculation then obviously all the output will have been re-generated and the saved insertion point lost).

If the saved position does not exist:

  • Calculate All -> Goto begining of document
  • Calculate Calc Section -> Goto begining of Calc Section
  • Calculate Selection -> Goto begining of selection
  • Calculate Expression -> Goto begining of paragraph
  • Calculate From Start to Here -> Goto end of what was calculated
  • Calculate From Here to End -> Goto start of document
