Check that the DWG file doesn't have lines pointing out far away from the Z-plane due to a drawing mistake. You can check the file for these errors by viewing the file from the front and top view in a program that can view DWG files. Trim the lines that stick out too far from the plane.

Also, go to File>Logs>Session history log to check if there might be some information about the encountered problem.
