Controlling Default Model Views

This tutorial will show you all the View attributes that you can control to your liking. These are the views settings that are used when you perform a right-click on an object and create views. Please note that you can pick and choose the ones you want. You do not have to do them all. Regardless to which one(s) you do choose, the attribute(s) you save away will always will visible in the View Properties drop-down list. Here are all the View attributes that this tutorial covers.

For all of these view attributes, there are 2 critical things that you must follow.


1. The View - Name you enter in the Name field must be as shown for each attribute.

2. The Save as name must be entered as shown for each attribute.

Assembly Views

When creating the views for Assemblies, first make sure that the Select assemblies icon is down.

Then select any assembly in the model and create the desired view(s) by selecting one of these options in the right-click menu.

In the resulting view(s), double-click on the view background to open up the View Properties dialog. By doing this, the View - Name should be correct. Next change the Display settings of the view to those you prefer and then save the view away with the corresponding Save as name shown here.

Component Views

When creating the views for Components, first make sure that the Select components icon is down.

Then select any component in the model and create the desired view(s) by selecting one of these options in the right-click menu.

In the resulting view(s), double-click on the view background to open up the View Properties dialog. By doing this, the View - Name should be correct. Next change the Display settings of the view to those you prefer and then save the view away with the corresponding Save as name shown here.

Custom Component Editor Views

When creating the views for the Custom Component Editor, first make sure that the Select component icon is down.

Then select any custom component in the model and in the right-click menu, select Edit Custom Component.

In the Custom Component Editor view(s), double-click on the view background to open up the View Properties dialog. By doing this, the View - Name should be correct. Next change the Display settings of the view to those you prefer and then save the view away with the corresponding Save as name shown here.

When creating the views for Parts, first make sure that the
