Many email hosting services — such as Microsoft Outlook, Google Gmail, or others — require two-step verification; for these an app password may be required to use Tekla PowerFab's Automated Events. By following these guidelines, you can seamlessly integrate Tekla PowerFab's Automated Events with your email system, even if it requires two-step verification.

This ensures that your automated notifications are sent reliably, enhancing your project management and communication workflows. Below is a generic process of generating an app password with your email host for use with Tekla PowerFab:

  1. Sign In to your email host's account or administration settings.
  2. Access the App Passwords Section. This is generally under the Security settings. Look for an "App passwords" or "application password" section.
  3. Create a New App Password. Select "Create a new app password" to will generate a unique app password for Tekla PowerFab.
  4. Define outgoing email settings in Tekla PowerFab email settings for automated events. Use this newly generated app password in place of your regular password.

Test the Configuration

In Tekla PowerFab to ensure that automated events are correctly sending emails using the app password. First, ensure that the Test in the Automated Event Email Settings dialog gives a positive result.

Next, to test both manual and automated report generation. To do this, Create a report event that sends the report by email, and Set the reporting frequency to be in the near future. While waiting for the reporting frequency to elapse, Run [the] automated event manually. Ensure that both the manual and automated emails are received.
