Question:
I cannot find the old CIMSteel import and export commands in Tekla Structures 2021 or newer versions. What happened to them? How can I export/import CIS/2 format in Tekla Structures now?
Answer:
These commands have intentionally been removed from Tekla Structures 2021 version onwards. This interoperability format is mainly used with the SmartPlant3D and A&D links as a backup option and not as the recommended option. Reasons for removal are technical (it was using an old, no longer maintained 3rd party library, which we were not able to test automatically anymore), and it looks that the usage of this interoperability format has not been very high. The removal was announced in Tekla Structures 2021 Release Notes.
Currently, there is a workaround to import and export CIS/2 format from/to Tekla Structures by using the
Smart3D Interoperability extension from Tekla Warehouse.
By installing this extension you will get following two applications for the export and import to your Applications & Components catalog:

Currently, we do not have any other workarounds for the CIMsteel import and export.
